Summer Asama Seen from Mt. Nokogiri
Read in English — ✴︎ Summer Asama Seen from Mt. Nokogiri
Mt. Nokogiri, which is connected to the outer rim of Mt. Kurofu and Mt. Jakotsu, is an excellent viewpoint from which to see Mt. Asama directly in front. At an elevation of 2,255 meters, its ridgeline is lined with rugged rock formations, and its rough terrain is the origin of its name.
Standing here, one can see the conical volcano of Mt. Asama rising imposingly before the eyes, with plumes of smoke rising under the summer sunlight. The volcano remains active today, and when climbing, it is essential to always check the latest volcanic information.
The ridgeline is covered with wind-blown alpine grassland, where, in addition to flowers that brighten the short summer, many wild birds appear. The life that dwells here seems to blur the boundary between nature and people.
The weather changes rapidly, with mists flowing in to cover the ridge, while at times, through a fleeting break, the mass of Mt. Asama dramatically emerges. In that moment, one can simultaneously experience both the tension of facing the volcano and the dynamism of nature.
