Arayama Plateau, at an elevation of about 1,300 meters, lies in the southeastern part of Mt. Akagi in Gunma Prefecture.
It serves as a midpoint on the hiking route that connects Mt. Arayama (1,572 m) with Mt. Nabewari (1,332 m). The plateau is characterized by its broad, open terrain, offering expansive views in all directions and, on clear days, distant mountains on the horizon.
In spring, melting snow nourishes the grassy meadows; in summer, refreshing breezes sweep across lush green fields; in autumn, the landscape glows with golden foliage; and in winter, the plateau welcomes visitors with a world blanketed in white.
Among the trails of the Akagi region, Arayama Plateau is especially accessible from Maebashi City. Its well-maintained walking paths and trekking routes make it appealing to a wide range of visitors—from beginners and families to seasoned hikers.
In winter, snow falls gently as hikers make their way through the quiet forest toward the open plateau. There, the season reveals its own enchantment: a landscape of silence and light, where time itself seems to pause.
