朝日岳からみた群馬の山々
朝日岳は、群馬県と新潟県の県境付近、谷川連峰の主脈に位置する標高1,945メートルの山。

白毛門登山口から笠ヶ岳へと続く稜線上にあり、谷川連峰を周回する馬蹄形ルートのうちの1座として知られている。
山頂周辺は見晴らしがよく、北側には新潟方面の山々、南側には赤城山や榛名山など群馬の山並みが一望できる。天候が良ければ、関東平野の一部まで見渡せることもある。
稜線上は風が強く、天候が変わりやすいため注意が必要。
縦走の通過点でありながら、展望に優れ、地形的な存在感もあるピークとして登山者に親しまれている。

Mt. Asahidake (1,945 m) rises along the main ridge of the Tanigawa Range, near the border between Gunma and Niigata Prefectures.
It sits on the ridgeline that extends from Shiragamon to Mt. Kasagatake, and is known as one of the peaks forming the Horseshoe Traverse that circles the Tanigawa Range.
The summit area offers sweeping views: to the north, mountains stretching into Niigata; to the south, the ridgelines of Gunma, including Mt. Akagi and Mt. Haruna. In clear weather, even parts of the Kanto Plain can be seen.
The ridgeline is often exposed to strong winds, and the weather can change rapidly, requiring caution.
Though often passed as part of a longer traverse, Mt. Asahidake is beloved by climbers for its commanding views and the distinct presence it lends to the landscape.
