Facing directly from the summit of Mt. Shirouma, Mt. Asahi (2,867 m) stands in Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture, as one of the distinguished peaks of the northern Hida Mountains, known as the Northern Alps of Japan.
Stretching westward from Mt. Shirouma, it is flanked by neighboring summits such as Mt. Ura-Asahi (2,733 m), Mt. Maruyama (2,768 m), and Mt. Hanare (2,731 m).
From the crest of Mt. Shirouma, Asahi reveals its commanding figure — a massive monolithic slope with a helmet-like profile — leaving a lasting impression as one of the most striking presences along the ridgeline.
